Law for the Arts
On the first Wednesday of every month, the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre offers sessions dedicated to those clients involved broadly with the arts. These sessions are devoted to clients who have any concerns relating to the creative work they do and providing them with the legal advice they may not otherwise be able to obtain. Budding web-designers, musicians, artists, writers, sculptors and actors etc who cannot afford, in the early stages of their career to access the legal advice they need, can now go to a place where enthusiastic students studying the relevant legal subjects, will research their legal issues and provide the client with written advice.
It is the first time a university in London has dedicated an advice evening entirely to the law for the arts.
The Centre runs an appointment only service with clients being offered appointments on the first Wednesday of every month, during term time, from 6 to 8:30pm. (Please note that term time runs from late September until the end of May)
Companies on the guest lists have included:
Arts: Arts & Business, BBC, Channel Four, Contemporary Art Society, CIDA, Mind Candy, MTV
Business: Allen & Overy, BT, Deutsche Bank, Deloitte, Fractional Life, Goldman Sachs, JWT, JP Morgan, Library House, Olswang, Pembridge
Press: The Telegraph, City AM, The Times
