about Justin Lee (Singapore): I used to daydream a lot, especially when I was a kid.  Daydreaming turns my imaginary world into reality. Paintings and creative thinking are part of the daydream process to keep me inspired, wherever I travel.

career highlights: I do paintings and make art installations for galleries and museums.  Like many other professions, being a practising artist helps me to pay my bills. I do not dream big as I do not believe in dreams, therefore I do not have a career highlights.

which creative people, places and things on your radar right now?

people: My creativity is inspired by non-creative places and people. They are common people everywhere in the city.  Most of the time, my radar detects things from the past that have been ignored by the majority of people.

things: Memory and imagination lead me to unknown spaces and that is the only chance for me to recreate things that are 'new' to my audiences.

what’s your favourite daydream? My favourite daydream is to dream of something that is not similar but familiar to others. My visual world is a memory database for people to share and communicate something in common.

what was the last rule you broke? I set my rules as unlimited rules. This is inspired by Kung Fu master Bruce Lee’s philosophy: “Treat unlimited rules as a limited ones, while limited rules as unlimited ones”.

I do not have rules, and therefore I do not break any rules.

if you could ask a question of someone you respect, who and what would you ask?

Local artist Tang Da Wu: "From where do you get your enlightenment?"

He treats and sees everything and everyone as 'one'.  He is so Zen!
