about Jan Wisse (The Netherlands): I am a Visual Artist and a Painter. The leading motivation for my paintings is human nature. Are we so different nowadays from people that lived thousands of years ago? I don’t think so.
Yet, are we improving on our quest (if that is ‘our’ quest anyway) to make the world a better place? I think we are; that is - at least we have more opportunities to make some progress in this world. Meanwhile: Virtues and Sins are timeless and so is the struggle for ‘survival of the fittest’.
career highlights: Every exciting new project that I work on; showcasing my work abroad; meeting new people and new dear friends. In particular, visiting Singapore in 1996 for commissioned works and the many visits thereafter really boosted my career.

which creative people, places and things on your radar right now?
people: Recent developments in the Visual Arts in UK/London. You can read about a lot of them at Art Sleuth. I'm also following the developments of the next generation of YBA – Young British Artists.
places: I check Art Basel and the other Art Fairs in Basel yearly; however that is only one out of many places.
what's your favourite daydream? Dun have! I am always working to make new dreams come true.
what was the last rule you broke? My own rule: ‘go to sleep on time’; and not answering questions like this.

"The best proof for the existence of pitifulness arises from the contemplation of its magnificence..."
if you could ask a question of someone you respect, who and what would you ask?
If there’s a God: "Would you please inform everybody you don’t exist? That would save all of us a lot of trouble".
