Set in a beautifully restored three storey house on a tree-lined street, Olivier Henry (Milk Photographie)  chose to focus on the enigmatic field of fine art photography.  And what a job he and his team have done.

The space is light, airy and serene - a veritable oasis of calm in comparison to the sometimes busy Cairnhill Road outside.  The aim is to make photography more accessible to collectors and to challenge the traditional concepts of the visual art form.

The inaugural exhibition - Technicolour Japan - showcases a selected group of reproduced albumen prints of photographs taken by some of the most significant photographers from the Edo Period.  To keep the show fresh and unique, the gallery invited five contemporary artists from different disciplines to choose one photograph as inspiration for new work.

Highs: Reproduced. Remixed. Contemporary. Visually stimulating and challenging.  A gem amongst Singapore's galleries.  Miss it.  Miss out.

Lows: Crossing Cairnhill Road from opposite the gallery can be like playing chicken on the motorway.  Dedicated bridge or underpass to be decorated with Vue Privée's artists, please!

Location: 20 Cairnhill Road, Singapore 229652

Nearest MRT: Somerset
