Suherwan Abu and Alan Wong started off collecting contemporary Indonesian artworks in 1989 in Kuala Lumpur. Five years later, with YM Tunku Nina Mansur as a partner, TAKSU was born in Malaysia - its first show, Javanese painter DJ Rachmansjah. Almost a decade later, TAKSU burst onto the scene in Singapore.
Long respected as a regional leader and specialist in contemporary art, TAKSU offers the full spectrum of art enjoyment from cutting edge exhibitions to advising private and corporate clients on the purchase or lease of artworks. Their artists range from those native to or simply based in Southeast Asia to those whose work is strongly influenced by Asia. In 2009, TAKSU was selected as one of the top five galleries in Singapore by Monocle Magazine.
Highs: The TARP - a forward-thinking initiative designed to propel artists' careers via the medium of freedom, connections and showcasing. Bravo!
Lows: Why is TAKSU Kuala Lumpur not connected to TAKSU Singapore by Telectroscope?
