Dedicated to fighting the battle against the ideals of commercial bombardment, Blackmarket is focused on championing independent urban 'chic wear' designers with a reputation for fine threads and originality.
The founders have made it their mission to seek out local, regional and international brands such as Mystic Vintage Eyewear, Yuki Mitsuyasu and Juliette Has A Gun for people who despair at the number of Gucci outlets on Orchard Road. Their obsessive nature is demonstrated in the unique display of ceiling-suspended Orangina bottles - they drank each one themselves.
Highs: With a congregation of dapper dudes and fly femmes, Blackmarket is the place to be for sublime fashion worship. The addition of a space dedicated to emerging label FrüFrü & Tigerlily and the street/shop parties held to launch new labels ensures that Blackmarket is synonymous with being contemporary, cutting-edge, and above all, unique.
Lows: Dabbling on this underground economy doesn't come cheap - save up and enjoy the smell of burning plastic as you fill your basket.
