World Environment Day Mask Challenge

Did you know that nine out of ten people worldwide are exposed to levels of air pollutants that exceed World Health Organization (WHO) safe levels? The issue of Air Pollution is the theme for World Environment Day 2019. The event serves as a global platform for public outreach and to create awareness on the pressing issue of air pollution.

Join us in pledging to make a difference in our environment! MeshMinds is very proud to be commissioned by UN Environment to reimagine their social campaign 'World Environment Day Mask Challenge'. Together, we selected the top three actions that individuals could take to #BeatAirPollution. We then commissioned André Wee to create the artwork that our resident Creative Technologist, Haikel Yusuff, transformed into an AR experience using Spark AR Studio.

Take a look and try out the three effects for yourself:

1. Ride your bike or take public transport to #BeatAirPollution for #WorldEnvironmentDay! Open this link & blow to make your bike wheels spin:

2. Commit to eat less meat & dairy to #BeatAirPollution for #WorldEnvironmentDay! Open this link & give a big smile to earn your veggie crown:

3. Plant trees in your community to #BeatAirPollution for #WorldEnvironmentDay! Open this link & blow away your mask to reveal a beautiful forest:

More about campaign

Every action, no matter how small, counts. Together, we can #BeatAirPollution

UPDATE: We are proud to report that our World Environment Day AR Facemask Challenge reached no less than 70,000 people across 137 countries around the world. This was also the first time that a Singapore artist and creative technology studio worked with the UN on an AR campaign focused on engaging audiences to #beatairpollution.
