The Community Thread

The Community Thread is an immersive augmented reality experience that brings street art and history to life. Commissioned by UNESCO Creative Cities in Australia and Singapore through Sydney City of Film, The Community Thread is a cross-disciplinary collaboration that features a variety of creatives in Australia and Singapore.

Visitors were invited to revisit the past and explore St. Anthony's Convent, Queen and Waterloo Streets in the 1930s. Visitors were also treated to augmented reality from their very own phone, which brought street art to life!

Story, project concept and development by Jane Beeke; Digital and AR designs by MeshMinds; Street art by theregularjo; Participatory design activations by Participate in Design; 'Running girl' illustration by Darel Seow. Supported by Project XIV (Singapore) and Gallery 4A (Sydney).
